ArchTriumph convoca al concurso Triumph Architectural Treehouse Award 2015. La meta es diseñar casas de árbol en The Garden Bridge, un puente jardín en Londres que ofrece un lugar para descansar y disfrutar nuevas vistas hacia el río Támesis. 

Acorde con la asombrosa naturaleza de las casas de árbol, el método de arbortecture o moldeo de árboles ha sido usado desde la India antigua y está resurgiendo hoy en día. Ramas y troncos de árboles vivos (abedules, en este caso) se utilizan como componentes estructurales. Incluso se pueden fundir dos o más árboles distintos como uno solo mientras crecen por una armazón metálica (que luego será removida). El resultado final es una arquitectura natural, que respira y crece en lugar de ser construida.

Para aprovechar las vistas al máximo, una casa en los árboles debe ser lo más transparente posible. Un material que permite esto son los paneles de ETFE, que se anclan en la estructura vegetal.

Un espacio público debería ser flexible y adaptable a las necesidades de los usuarios. Por esta razón, el espacio interior de la propuesta está dividido en tres niveles escalonados que pueden ser utilizados para varios propósitos.

Se ingresa cómodamente en este espacio elevado por una rampa, que no ocupa mucho espacio y, mientras ascendemos, nos permite disfrutar de la variedad de vistas hacia la ciudad y el río.

ArchTriumph opens the Triumph Architectural Treehouse Award 2015. The proposals will be located in The Garden Bridge, a place to rest and enjoy new views of the River Thames in London.

In line with the wondrous nature of tree houses, the Arbortecture or Tree Shaping method has been used since Ancient India and is seeing resurgence in modern days. It allows one to utilize trees (birch, in this case) as structural components by grafting branches, and trunks together as they grow via metallic frames (witch they will be removed later). The final result is a truly living, breathing, and green architecture that is grown rather than built.

To take full views of the landscape, a house in the trees should be as transparent as possible. A material which allows this is ETFE panels, which can be anchored to the plant structure. 

A public space should be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the users. To this extent the proposal is a space with three terraced levels that can be used for various purposes.

A ramp allows anyone to access the elevated space comfortably. The access route itself is a tight loop that doesn’t take much space and allows one to enjoy ever-changing views as they ascend.
