Concurso conceptual. Conceptual contest.
Evolo Skyscraper invita a arquitectos y diseñadores de todo el mundo a imaginarse el rascacielos del siglo XXI, basándose en tecnologías, programas, materiales, flexibilidad, estética y otros aspectos. Esta libertad hace de la competencia un ejercicio único.
Metrópolis toma como punto de partida la desidia que impera en el cuidado del patrimonio histórico del país, para imaginar un futuro distópico, en el que el gobierno ha tomado medidas drásticas para asegurar la supervivencia de la memoria. La ciudad se ha propagado como un virus y años de abuso y falta de protección han destruido la mayoría de monumentos.
Los únicos vestigios que quedan han sido asegurados con métodos extremos por una sección del gobierno devota de la protección, preservación y restauración de la cultura. Esta sección, llamada Cenobite, emplea una legión de trabajadores a modo de monjes, que se recluyen alrededor de los monumentos para dedicarse a su cuidado. Ellos habitan un sistema de módulos que rodean las zonas en recuperación, guardando una distancia respetuosa entre lo nuevo y lo viejo. Este nuevo tipo de edificios sirve como una fortaleza que defiende el monumento de toda actividad ilegal y dañina, incluso del gobierno.
Evolo Skyscraper invites architects and designers from all over the world to image a skyscraper for the XXI century, using the latest technologies, programs, materials, flexibility, esthetics and other aspects in the design of their proposal. The freedom of this contest makes it a unique exercise.
Metropolis takes as a starting point the negligence evoked by citizens of Peru in the preservation of historical monuments, placing the office´s proposal in a dystopia where the government has taken extreme measures to assure the survival of historical vestiges. In this dystopia the city has spread like a virus and years of abuse and lack of protection has destroyed the majority of monuments.
The only remains have been heavily secured by a section of the government devoted to the protection, preservation and restoration of culture. This section, called Cenobite, employs a legion of monk-like workers who seclude themselves around the monuments to protect them. They inhabit a system of modules that surround the areas in need of care, keeping a respectful distance between the old and new. This new type of building serves as a fortress, defending the monument from all illegal activity. The jurisdiction of the government is inexistent in this oasis of recuperation.
